Design
Mathematically designed to produce exact plate and screen voltages. These transformers are precision gapped to adjust for unbalanced DC current.

Primary (Input)
The input is designed for a 5K Ohms impedance source.

Secondary (Output)
The output is designed for a specified speaker impedance.

Magnet Wire
All units are wound with the finest virgin copper magnet wire. All windings use heavy insulated wire to provide excellent manufacturing yield, lower customer cost and superior life.

The Core
EDCOR uses the finest M6 line grain oriented steel cores. Each unit is hand stacked to assure at least 92% stack.

The Bobbin
EDCOR's standard bobbin with black finishing tape.

Termination
The terminations are UL1015 20 ga. lead wire.

Mounting
This unit comes with steel end bells for mounting with the use of four screws. The end bells are powder coated Gentian Blue (RAL 5010) to add to your tube display and overall appearance.

A Fine Transformer
After designing a 6550 SE amp, I needed a good output transformer. First I tried the XSE15-8-5K which was good to test the design with but didn't have enough Bass response (70 Hz limit).
Then, I discovered the GXSE15-8-5K (40 Hz limit) for not much more money. It sounded very good and the 40 Hz limit was not even noticable. Easily handles the low E on a Bass guitar.
So, I used this tranny in the design and have been happy ever since.

Solid single-ended transformer
I used this transformer in a stereo Hi-Fi amplifier using 6L6G output tubes.  Even though I did not need 15W power handling capability, I selected this transformer in order to avoid saturation at low frequencies.  I'm very happy with how this transformer has performed in this application, particularly with regard to frequency response at the 6.5Wrms maximum output power my circuit generates, and will be using it again.

And it looks fantastic, to boot.

A FINE TRANSFORMER INDEED
I wanted to try a single ended 6L6 design using shunt (Schade) feedback. Initially I used a large push pull output transformer since I didn't have a single ended one on hand. It worked out OK for testing, so I decided to order these parts for my design. They worked out better than expected! The low frequency limit isn't as much of a limitation as it might seem at first glance. There is core saturation going on much below 40Hz at higher output, but that is to be expected without a large, heavy output transformer. This part is a very good budget alternative that does not give up much versus the larger and expensive parts but costs half as much (or less) and is smaller and lighter.

I am running the 6L6 at a 60mA cathode current using the screen grid tap on the transformer and using shunt feedback which does not include the transformer in the feedback loop. This avoids instability due to phase shift in the transformer at frequency extremes. 1kHz square wave only showed slight ringing at low amplitude, so the performance I judged to be excellent.

I measured the primary inductance to be 7.3H and the secondary at 9.1mH; I didn't see that available in the specs here.

In short you will not be disappointed using these transformers for amplifier designs playing normal music.
